Year Two Weekly Blog, 22nd March
Date: 22nd Mar 2019 @ 3:34pm
What a busy week we've all had in Year Two! I think all the teacher's will agree that we've had some absolutely fantastic pieces of writing produced this week. The children have worked so hard to write rerally detailed stories based on our text 'The Dragon Machine.' Our own dragons have now flown their nests and we will therefore move onto another brilliant text next week, 'Tadpole's Promise' by Jeanne Willis. This week we have been measuring length using standard units. We have practiced our measuring skills by practically measuring different items from around our classroom and exploring the statement 'taller children have bigger feet. True or False?'. Next week we will move onto looking at position and direction, using vocabulary such as left, right, clockwise, anticlockwise, whole turn, half turn, quarter turn. In science this week we have found out about how living things depend on one another for food and have learnt about the importance of food chains. We have designed our African pots which we will make from clay next week and we have concluded our geography topic about Africa by comparing African city and village life. Next week we will begin a short history unit of work about Florence Nightingale.
