Weekly Y3 Blog 15.2.19

This week in Year 3, we have been working extremely hard and enjoying the following activities:
- Maths – A range of money problems involving:
- Converting pounds and pence
- Using money in practical contexts
- English – We have focused on cross-curricular History writing during our English lessons this week. We have written a diary entry from the perspective of a Bronze Age child who has to go down the mine for the very first time.
- History – We have focused the changes from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age
- Science – Plants – We looked at our investigation we set up several weeks ago to find out if a plant needs light and soil to survive and grow.
- P.E – Dance
- Music, PSHE and French
After half term in Year 3, we shall be enjoying the following activities:
- Maths - We shall continue our work on money for one more week. During this unit, we will focus on the following objectives:
- Adding money
- Subtracting money
- Giving change
- Using money in practical contexts

- Geography – Where on Earth are we? Over this unit, we shall focus on the following objectives:
- Improve locational knowledge through identifying the position and significance of latitude, longitude, Equator, Northern Hemisphere, South Hemisphere, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, Arctic and Antarctic Circle
- Practice geographical skills through using maps, atlases, globes and digital/computer mapping to locate features
- Use the eight points of the compass to build their knowledge of the wider world
- Science – Light
- Music, Computing and French
