Black History Week
Date: 18th Oct 2016 @ 2:49pm
This week we have been learning about Ruby Bridges, a brave little girl who attended an all-white school in New Orleans in 1960. She was the first black student the school had entrolled and she faced lots of angry protests and walkouts from white parents and children. Her bravery and courage meant the school was eventually fully integrated.
We took part in role play this afternoon, where we imagined how Ruby must have felt during her first day and year at the school. We then thought about how people could have behaved differently towards Ruby, and made a poster about how we should all be towards others.
