Burger Sentences

Date: 2nd Dec 2015 @ 10:25am

Every week in our English lessons we look at a super sentence. This week we have been looking at the BURGER SENTENCE.

BURGER SENTENCE

This sentence always begins with a noun which is followed by a comma then an embedded clause (the part of the sentence that can be omitted and it still makes sense). The final part of the sentence adds detail to the opening noun.

Tom, who practiced football every day, dreamed of playing for Manchester United.

Peterborough, which is a city, has a stunning cathedral.

The playground, where the children enjoy playing, has lots of wonderful equipment.

We thought of our own starters and snowballed them around the class. We then added the BURGER part and ended up with fun, creative burger sentences which we read out to eachother.

Can you think of another burger sentence to add in the comment box below?

Remember to punctuate it properly!
